NJ Legislators Call on Resignation of NFL Commissioner, Not NJ Prosecutor?

A press release issued today by members of the NJ Assembly Women and Children Committee announced their approval of a vote on a package of bills that “… requires counseling for domestic violence offenders; establishes the justification of self-defense by victims; creates a program to assist victims reintegrate into society; and permits a witness under age 16 to testify by closed circuit television in domestic crime prosecutions.”

All well and good. Any protections for victims should be applauded. The release ended with the note that:

Both Casagrande and Muñoz joined with other women in the Assembly Republican caucus in calling for the resignation of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as a result of the league’s tepid response over recent incidents of domestic violence.

Cool.  Throw the bum out.

But…

What wasn’t addressed in the release or the package was the fact that a part of the appointment-driven New Jersey judicial system is guilty of an equally tepid response, and which should be held to an even higher standard and accountability as the NFL.

So many pundits and politicians jumping on these issues now that it is convenient.  But let’s go as far as we can and not just as far as is politically convenient.  Throw all the bums out.

Last night, NY Jets Wide Receiver David Nelson hosted a launch party for his organization i’mME at Hotel Chantelle in NYC. Even with training camp starting tomorrow, New York Jets players Geno Smith, Eric Decker, Bilal Powell, and Jalen Saunders were all in attendance at the Super-Hero themed event to support David and the organization.

i’mME was founded by Nelson and his two brothers in 2013 after a moving trip to Haiti. The cause works to support orphans in Haiti through creating new infrastructure and providing program resources. David spoke to the crowd addressing his passion for these children and the difference he knows this organization can make.
